Rock the Block

CLIENT: City of Gresham and RAHS
PROJECT: We make it a point to be involved in our local community and have been covering an event put on by the City of Gresham and Rosemary Anderson High School/POIC (Portland Opportunity Industrialization Center) called Rock the Block for years. Rock the Block is a fun annual celebration in Gresham, connecting nonprofits to the community. It also offers free food, and music. This video is a splash piece covering the offerings of Rock the Block. APPROACH: We wanted to capture the excitement and color of this important event, so we chose to shoot this video with a high saturation look, and then used rhythmic editing and high-energy, drum-heavy music to top it off. We had the kids we interviewed describe Rock the Block in 3 words so even the shy ones could have a voice. We chose to include the perspectives of children, nonprofits and local politicians to give a well rounded depiction of this event which is as much for fun, as it is an important resource for community members. RESULTS: This video was used to promote Rock the Block and was successful in inspiring hundreds of people to attend the event.
