Garon the Fabulous
CLIENT: Quest CenterPROJECT: This powerful short documentary follows Garon the Fabulous, a participant in the Quest Center’s Finding and Sustaining Recovery (FSR) program, as they share their lived experience of addiction recovery alongside their journey of coming out as queer within a Mormon family. We were hired by Quest Center for Integrative Health to produce this video for their annual fundraising gala.
APPROACH: The film takes an intimate, character-driven documentary approach, centering Garon’s voice and lived experience. Through honest storytelling, we explore the intersection of identity, addiction, and recovery, highlighting both personal struggle and the role of community support in healing. The narrative is grounded in vulnerability, allowing space for reflection on what it means to seek authenticity while navigating complex family and cultural dynamics.
RESULTS: “Every single year that we show a video, it's mentioned to me as a highlight of the evening. Your work makes such a difference in our ability to let stakeholders in on the impact of our programs.” - Courtney Hollis, Quest Center Development & Communications Manager. Garon’s story offers a powerful portrait of resilience, showing how connection, community, and support systems like the FSR program can help individuals move toward recovery and self-acceptance. The film underscores a larger message: healing is possible, and authenticity can be reclaimed at any stage of life.
