MetroEast Youth Media Programs
MetroEast is proud to facilitate one of the most vibrant youth media programs in the Portland area! High school-age filmmakers and studio producers come together at MetroEast to participate in our Digital Youth program. Students learn new skills, gain access to digital production gear, get professional support and advice and generally hone their awesome filmmaking chops! Students can join our programs on an individual basis or through their participating schools. Our flagship studio show is Homework Hotline, aka Portland Punks. This LIVE studio show is produced each Monday afternoon by high school juniors and seniors. Check out the archives below, or get a sneak peek of the roll-in videos for next year's series!

The 2010-2011 school year has been a great year for youth media at MetroEast! One of our most exciting partnerships is with the Center for Advanced Learning (CAL) in Gresham.
Throughout the school year, MetroEast staff conduct monthly workshops in the CAL Media Arts classrooms to teach students the fundamentals of videomaking; storytelling basics, composition, lighting, audio recording and editing.
Aided by the use of our equipment, CAL seniors create short narrative films, shown on our channels and at the annual "Five-minute Film Festival", a student run event that drew more that 300 people. To watch the films by CAL students, visit the Film Festival Page.
MetroEast is also proud to co-ordinate "Lets Make a Movie" media club at Reynolds High School. In this after-school program, students are offered an exciting opportunity to write, direct and produce short films. Professional level acting coaching is also provided. The movies will be available on this site when they are finished in June, 2011.
