Youth Media

MetroEast Youth Media Programs

The 2009-2010 school year has been a great year for youth media at MetroEast! One of our most exciting youth media projects has been our partnership with the Center for Advanced Learning (CAL) in Gresham.

Throughout the school year, MetroEast staff conducted monthly workshops in the CAL Media Arts classrooms to teach students the fundamentals of videomaking; storytelling basics, composition, lighting, audio recording and editing.

Aided by the use of our equipment, students then created seven short narrative films, and organized the second annual "Five-minute Film Festival", a student run event that drew more that 200 people to view their films. To watch the films by CAL students, visit the Film Festival Page.
