Are you a DACA recipient?

Are you a DACA recipient? Or know someone who is? If so, please read and share this important letter from Mt. Hood Community College:

Dear MHCC Community,

To continue our commitment in creating a safe and welcoming environment to all of our students, I wanted to share updated information and resources regarding DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program.

If your DACA expiration date falls between September 5, 2017 and March 5, 2018, you can still file for renewal of DACA status.

The renewal must be received by U.S. Immigration Services by October 5, 2017.

Local organizations are available to help. Please contact your immigration attorney or local organizations that are providing relief to DACA students. One local organization, Catholic Charities Immigration Legal Services, has stepped forward to help by taking appointments and prioritizing DACA renewals.

If you or someone you know is a DACA student eligible for renewal you should act immediately in order to ensure your application is processed and received by the U.S. Immigration Services by the October 5, 2017 deadline. The fee for DACA renewal is $495. There are organizations working to provide financial assistance for people who cannot afford the fee.

DACA Renewal Scholarships Available!

Mission Asset Fund (MAF) announced it has surpassed its original fundraising goal and will now be able to provide $2,500,000 in scholarships to 5,000+ Dreamers to pay for DACA renewals by the October 5 deadline.

Early this month, the Trump administration announced that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program is ending. DACA has provided security, safety, and a livelihood for 800,000 young people commonly known as "Dreamers." There are approximately 11,000 DACA individuals in the greater Portland area.

For those Dreamers who are eligible for renewal but can't afford the $495 application fee, MAF is stepping in with a solution now available nationwide: scholarships to help Dreamers renew their DACA status (LC4DACA.org).
