Fans of the Gresham Arts Festival are in for a few surprises this year as the event expands to include even more family fun for 2017. Typically the festival is a 9-5 event on Saturday only. But this year you can head on down to main street for Art Under the Stars on Friday night. This opening night includes music by legendary Portland musician, Norman Sylvester, wine tasting for the adults, and the unveiling of the newest art piece by the non-profits Gresham Outdoor Public Arts and the Soroptimists International of Gresham.
Saturday brings the expected group of talented artists and artisans offering art to hang on your walls, wear on your body, or display in your garden. You can also help the City in their attempt to reclaim their Chalk of Fame Guinnes World Record. And don't forget the Kids Village as well as local musicians and other entertainment. But this year you can also stick around after the booths start closing up and head to the Arts Plaza for a talent show at the Arts Plaza starting at 6pm.
The festival takes place July 14 and 15 and MetroEast will once again be a major sponsor of the event. For more information on this year's Gresham Arts Festival, go to greshamoregon.gov/Events/2017/Arts-and-Culture/Gresham-Arts-Festival-2017.
